Weekly Newsletter for September 14, 2017

Dear Parents,

We will be starting up the Saint Isabella School Vocal Ensemble, for grades 5-8. This ensemble will meet during the school day on Friday mornings and have opportunities to perform at the school concerts, more informal events, and in outreach concerts in the community. We will sing a variety of music, including pop songs, folk songs from around the world, secular and sacred choral music, liturgical music, and favorites of the students. If you have questions about the Ensemble or how to sign up,

Contact Miss Hahn at ahahn@stisabellaschool.org. The first rehearsal will be Friday, September 15 at 8:05.

Please sign up by filling in this registration form:

Tomorrow the 8th grade class will be selling ice bars for $1.00, the funds going to the Texan and Florida hurricane victims.

In less than a month it will be a Night to Bond at our annual school auction, October 14 at the Marin Country Club. You will receive an electronic invitation on Monday so be on the lookout! This will be a wonderful night and on these weeks leading up the auction you will continue to receive exciting updates! This is the biggest fundraiser of the school year and you don’t want to miss any part of it. Be sure to purchase your tickets early so you do not miss this opportunity to Bond. Information will be coming home in your child’s backpack so PLEASE unpack their backpack and find this important information.

The Men’s Club is looking to recruit new members. This is a great opportunity to meet other dads, learn about volunteer opportunities, and support your school and parish. The Men’s Club invites you to their first dinner meeting of the year, September 22, at 6:00 in the Parish Center. (See attached Flyer)

This Sunday, September 24, is Catechetical Sunday.  During our 9:00am Family mass, our school and PSR teachers will be given a special blessing and acknowledgement for their role in passing on the faith to our children.  After the Mass, Lyn Gatti has organized a brunch in the Parish Center for the teachers.

As all of our students receive daily religion instruction in school, it is important to support and strengthen your child’s faith formation by attending Saturday or Sunday Mass. Our Parish-School community will also be strengthened by the presence of school families at weekend parish masses as well at monthly school masses. Students in grade 1st through 8th, along with PSR students, will be taking responsibility for a monthly Parish Family “Spirit” Mass. The Third grade class is taking responsibility for our first mass, Sunday October 1 at 9:00am. Students are invited to sing in the choir, practice will start at 8:15 am. This is a wonderful way to meet and grow closer to other families in our community.

October 4, Father Healy will celebrate our school wide mass honoring Saint Francis of Assisi. The day will begin with a Blessing of the Animals by Father Healy at an 8:05 Morning Assembly. Students will gather in the schoolyard and may join their parent and animal for this blessing. Animals must be in possession of parents and on a short leash and/or in a cage and must be taken home following the Blessing. And later that morning we encourage you to join with the school community at 11:15 for our liturgical celebration in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. More details are to follow.
