This is a very exciting year for your outgoing eight-year-old. We are having a wonderful time with our third grade class. The students are learning to be independent learners as well as have more responsibilities and homework. For example, the third graders have their own Student Planner and Homework Folder (or envelope).
The religion curriculum includes learning all about the Mass, the Seven Sacraments and Jesus's life. The students enhance their language arts skills by speaking, reading and writing. They enjoy our challenging math curriculum using Houghton Mifflin.
In social studies and science the third grades learn about their environment and communities. They focus in part on factories, product development and manufacturing.
The third graders enjoy computers, Spanish, PE and music. They also love to get together with their seventh grade buddies. Mrs. Wall has planned wonderful art activities and class projects to engage her students. Field trips and speakers are scheduled to enhance the curriculum including a trip to a local factory, musicals and plays.
